For safer lab operations under hydrogen

 

Flexi Hyco is capable of supplying ultra-pure hydrogen up to 200 bar from a lower-pressure source such as an electrolyzer or a low-pressure network. Its patented compression technology accumulates H2 in a bed of metal hydrides during a loading phase and then, via special temperature control, desorbs the accumulated hydrogen at the set pressure.

It uses no moving parts, avoiding the risks, vibrations and noise associated with mechanical compressors. It also avoids the risks and gas wastage associated with the use of very high-pressure hydrogen cylinders.

FLEXI HyCo can also operate with deuterium. It has the advantage of being able to reabsorb the deuterium used after an experiment if it has not been polluted by other gases or vapors. The same gas can thus be reused several times, reducing costs.

    Applications

    FLEXI HyCo is the ideal accessory for laboratories whose experiments require hydrogen operation. In particular, it can be integrated into small prototypes of hydrogen-based energy production systems, such as fuel cell test benches.

    It can also be connected to any device or reactor requiring operation at a hydrogen pressure of 200 bar or less. For example, it can supply hydrogen to materials annealing furnaces or to hydrogenation reactors.

    It can feed materials characterization instruments for the hydrogen cycle (production, transport, storage and conversion), e.g. certain catalysts, absorbents and metals. For example, mechanical testing machines, diffusion/permeation studies and, of course, Flexi Hyco can be simply connected to our Gaspro for sorption studies, and to Calvet or Calvet Pro for calorimetry.

    Finally, it can be used for routine operations such as filling hydrogen tanks or supplying hydrogen for oxy-hydrogen flame welding equipment.
